Solar PV installation

A rooftop PV system sized to your bill and your roof, surveyed, designed and installed under one contract.

Malta is a good place to put a solar panel. The European Commission's PVGIS model puts a south-facing panel tilted at 32° at about 1,668 kWh per kWp per year, and the national statistics office counts the average domestic system at 3.5 kWp. Most Maltese roofs are flat, which makes the tilt and the direction a design choice rather than something the roof dictates.

We survey the roof, size the system against what you actually use, quote it, and deliver the installation through a solar installer from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, managed by us. One contract, one point of contact, and someone accountable after the scaffolding has gone.

A note on the grant: the 2026 REWS scheme closed to applications on 12 September 2026. A further round was announced but not detailed, so for now the honest assumption is a system without a grant, which earns the grant-free feed-in tariff of €0.15 per kWh for 20 years on systems under 40 kWp.

What this covers

Plan it, then meet the installer

Want to see how many panels fit before anyone visits? Lay them out on your own roof in SpecYourSolar, our free roof planner, and send us the design. The installer who fits the system comes from CheckYourSolar, our directory of CheckYourTraders-verified solar installers, and the calculator works out savings and payback from sourced figures.

What it costs

There is no neutral 2026 price list for a Maltese installation. One installer's guide puts a 3 kWp system at €3,500 to €5,000 before any grant (undated), another quoted €800 to €1,000+ per kWp in 2023. That is too loose to publish as our rate, so the calculator lets you set the cost per kWp yourself as an assumption, and the real figure comes from the survey.

None of these has a published Maltese installed price we can stand behind, so each is quoted after the roof survey, itemised, before anything is ordered.

How it works

You deal with us, not with the installer. We survey the roof, quote a fixed price, bring in a solar installer from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.

Questions people ask

How big a system do I need?
Divide your annual consumption by the yield of your roof. A south-facing array gives about 1,668 kWh per kWp a year under PVGIS, so a household using 5,000 kWh would need roughly 3 kWp to match it over a year. The sizing tab in the calculator does this for any orientation.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Rooftop PV is permitted development under Class 1(iv) of S.L. 552.08 and needs no notification if it complies with DC15 (guidance G26) and stays within the roof height limit. On a scheduled building, or one over 75 years old in a conservation area, it must stay within the building envelope and not rise above the parapet.
