Orientation, shading, parapets and structure measured, and a system designed for the roof you have.

Every quote we give starts on the roof. Orientation matters less on a flat Maltese roof than people expect, because the frame sets the angle, but shading from water tanks, neighbouring buildings and the parapet matters a lot. PVGIS puts a south-facing panel at about 1,668 kWh per kWp a year, a flat-mounted one about 11% lower and east or west roughly 16 to 17% lower.
The survey also checks the planning position. Rooftop PV is permitted development under Class 1(iv) of S.L. 552.08 and needs no notification if it complies with DC15 and stays within the roof height limit; on a scheduled building, or one over 75 years old in a conservation area, it must stay within the envelope and below the parapet.
Before the survey you can design the system yourself. SpecYourSolar, our free roof planner, loads a satellite view of your roof from your address, lets you place panels around the tanks and the parapet, and shows what the layout should generate. Request a quote from the planner and the design comes to us, so the survey starts from your layout rather than a blank roof. What a satellite picture cannot show — structure, afternoon shading and the planning position — is what the visit checks. The system is then installed by a verified installer from CheckYourSolar.
The survey is how we produce the quote; there is no separate price list for it.
| Job | Unit | Band | What is in it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roof survey & system design | survey | quoted on site | part of every quote |
None of these has a published Maltese installed price we can stand behind, so each is quoted after the roof survey, itemised, before anything is ordered.
You deal with us, not with the installer. We survey the roof, quote a fixed price, bring in a solar installer from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.
